Eckols & Associates AIA is a licensed architectural firm, led by Donald E. Eckols, AIA. The firm provides full services in all phases of architectural design. Expertise includes site analysis, programming, conceptual design, design development, preparation of construction documents, specifications, budget preparation, and construction administration. We utilize the American Institute of Architects documentation proceedures and the latest in CAD technologies, including 3D modeling.
Our commitment to sustainable architecture, green building, as well as new urbanism is evident in our community oriented projects such as the new Ronald McDonald House Charities facility of Austin. This project meets the standards for the highest LEED (Leadership in Environment and Energy Design) rating of Platinum. This makes the project one of only a handful worldwide to meet such stringent guidelines.
Eckols & Associates had its beginnings in Austin, Texas in 1982 when Don was completing his Master’s Degree with Dr. Charles Moore, and teaching design studios at the University of Texas School of Architecture. The firm has continued to flourish as Don has maintained academic positions and consulted with numerous firms on large-scale commercial projects, including sites in China, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia.
The professionals of Eckols & Associates have provided services on projects ranging from
institutional, medical, industrial, commercial, military, land use planning, multi-family and residential
projects. Recent projects include mixed-use, retail, office and residential as well as transit oriented
development projects. We have made presentations for various governmental agencies, academic
bodies, churches, boards of directors, city councils, and historic review boards. We are experienced
in the many aspects of working with the multiple agencies required to complete our complex and
diverse portfolio projects.
